I bet you're wondering, "Hey, why are you known as Sara without an 'H' as well as with an 'H'? And where did the 'Stardust' come from?"

Well let me answer that for you...

Pretty much the very first Internet presence I ever had growing up was on Pixie Hollow, an online game, where I was known as Sarah Stardust. Now on that game, you could only choose from a dropdown list of names: a first name, and two parts of a last name. Even though I'd always spelled my name as 'Sara', only the name 'Sarah' was available there, so I went with it.

As for 'Stardust', well...It's been a long time ago now, but I think it was likely inspired by one of my favorite movies, called 'Stardust'.

So there is the minutia of the origins of my screen name explained! Now, if you're interested to know, let you tell you a little bit about my time as 'Sarah Stardust' on Pixie Hollow.

You're probably asking, "Why has your screen name on a kids game stayed with you into adulthood? What was so significant about it?"

 

Well, you see, one day I decided to create my own sort of "kingdom within a kingdom" in this online fantasy world. I called it the "Merfairy Empire" and my title was Merfairy Empress. I was surprised to see the number of other people who decided to join my little group I had started, but before long, it wasn't so little...It had become an actual empire of sorts, and there were now young people who looked to me as their leader in this make-believe world. There then came to be proper meetings that were held, laws that I instituted, newspaper publications on the Pixie Hollow forum, outfits that were indicative of being a merfairy, and lots more.

So many things happened, and I made a lot of close friends, as well as enemies who at times seemed to take the whole thing a little too seriously...

All in all, even though it may sound strange to someone who hasn't been there, it was a very remarkable experience in my life that taught me leadership, loyalty, wisdom, and in a way sort of taught me a little of how the world works.

And even in recent years, long after the Pixie Hollow game has closed down, I have had friends and followers of the empire come to me and thank me for sharing the Merfairy Empire with them, and for being a "role model" for them.

It was then that I realized that the little kingdom I had started became a lot more for many young girls just like me, and I was so grateful that I was able to help make the game an even better and more fun place...a place where kids could just be kids.

 

And so, because I was known by my screen name 'Sarah Stardust' for so long, I continue to carry it with me as a sort of little nod to everyone who knew me as that. And I think that's something really special.

So, fast forward 6 years since Pixie Hollow's closure...My new online presence consists of making videos for my YouTube channel, which I call 'StardustCreations'.

The well-known term for what I do is vidding, where I take clips from my favorite movies and TV shows and pair them together with music to tell a story...I suppose that's the best way to explain it.
